Design a Better Life Through Creativity - Part 2

If You're A Creative Person, This Love Letter Is For You

I was born creative.
You were born creative.

Creativity is a natural force. And it is inside you.
You have everything you need to be a creative superpower right now.
Creative is our nature.

Like our big brains, opposable thumbs, and an incredible ability to organize a flash mob, “creativity is one of the most important characteristics of being human. It is one of the main traits that make us successful as individuals and as a species."

You have evolved to be creative and create.

You must exercise/use your creativity

You need creativity to thrive in the same way you need purpose and meaning, healthy habits, healthy environments, and social connections.

“... creativity is a core human function that plays a fundamental role in our health and well-being. If we don’t rev our creative engine regularly, something inside us withers. This is true both metaphorically and practically.”

Without use, if you don’t tap into it, your creativity will wither and shrivel into a dry, little mouse turd in the desert of your once-creative heart. And nobody wants to carry around a metaphorical creative turd. It’s not practical.

Your creativity is your ability to see patterns, make seemingly unrelated connections, invent ideas, and create something with them. If you can harness this power source of creativity inside, you can “[transform] your ideas, imagination, and dreams into reality.”
Your creativity is your potentiality.

To pick up the unfortunate metaphor I created and kill it with a flourish {try to revive….}: you can’t afford not to let that creative turd blossom.*

There’s a force…
"There is force in the universe, which, if we permit it, will flow through us and produce miraculous results." ― Mahatma Gandhi

Like any padawan learns early on, there’s something powerful inside us. Martial artists call it Chi, superheroes call it Superpower, creators call it Creativity. It’s a force - not a force to control, but to channel. When you create, you access and activate that power. The more you create, like some jedi-taichi-kungfu-superhero, the more of that internal power you tap into and direct, the more it grows. The more it grows, the more you grow.
“By creating regularly, we access a new source of vitality.”

What is Creativity?*

Creativity is creative thinking and creative doing.

Thinking and Doing.

Imagination and Play.

Connected by and through our creativity.
To flourish in this world you’ve got to do both. Every kid knows that.

Creativity: it’s problem solving

How do you open a wine bottle with a shoe? Creativity.
How do you turn that empty wine bottle into a chandelier? Creativity.
How do you get an egg in that bottle and teach your kids science? Creativity.
How do you turn a drinking problem into a series of life life-hacks? I guarantee it will involve creativity.

Your creativity is “the ability to make your ideas manifest in the world. It’s problem solving.”

Creativity: the engine that keeps our record turnin and our world groovin.

“[Creative pursuits] changes your mind, instilling the notion that you can shape your environment and your experience. It gives you an unshakeable sense of agency.”

“identifying as a creative person... manifesting your ideas regularly, you will intuitively create the life you truly want for yourself.”

But here’s the catch: you’ve got two challenges ahead.
And every creative hero knows you gotta develop some mental and physical skills to meet those challenges. [You gotta be…]
Thinking and Doing. [Thinking. Doing.]

You have to adopt the mindset of a creator.

You have to practice.

Imagine. Play.

Develop your mindset. Start a creative practice.

Tap your creativity. Become a more creative version of yourself.
